WORCESTER, Mass. - The Worcester Red Sox don't need Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz to tell them there's no place like home.
The WooSox are coming off a great homestand where they went 9-4. To a man, the players said Polar Park is the best ballpark in the league with the clubhouse, the weight room and the field.
"Oh this is first class," said pitcher Chase Shugart. "We had some guys come in that are first year free agent signs, and they say this is ideal. They come from other AAA organizations and they say this is the best in the business.
"This field is amazing," said infielder David Hamilton. "Probably the best infield I've ever played on. The locker room is amazing, everything here is great."
"It's unbelievable, I was telling my family about it this past week," said infielder Daniel Palka. "It's top of the line, I've never seen a minor league clubhouse that looked like this. Obviously the field and the stadium are great."
The WooSox are on the road for their next six games and then back home on May 23.
