Long-time South Hadley recreation director Andy Rogers said incidents like this at games is disappointing.

"For stuff like this to merit what was likely some seniors last football game is really disheartening to them," Rogers said. "And it's not what it's supposed to be about, and when stuff like this happens it just really ruins it for everybody."

Rogers said he has seen many altercations happen during his 20-plus year run at South Hadley High School. He said often times, his school has public safety standing by to make sure everyone stays in line.

"I know for high school games there's always police officers at those games," Rogers said. "High school football by the MIAA, there's a site director mandated to be there. There's always support staff that are at those games."

The city also said they plan to identify each emergency exit before the start of any game or event and will also provide more professional development to all site managers and support staff.
