WORCESTER, Mass. - The second season of Worcester Red Sox baseball at Polar Park is over, and the team couldn't be happier with the way it went.
Team president Charles Steinberg said their goal this season was to get 500,000 fans into the ballpark and they exceeded that goal. According to the WooSox, Worcester's fans will finish in the top five in attendance in all of minor league baseball this season.
The club surpassed the 530,000 fans mark with Sunday's game, which was the the 42nd sellout crowd of the season.
Steinberg said they love to hear feedback from not only the Worcester community, but also the surrounding towns in central Massachusetts.
"When you have someone come and they have a good time it's gratifying," Steinberg said. "When they therefore come back again and again and again, well now you really feel like your changing the culture of a neighborhood of the city and changing the vibe of the city itself."
Steinberg said they've listened to feedback all season long and had suggestion boxes throughout the park during fan appreciation week. The club is going to go through the suggestions and see what they can add for next year.
