EASTHAMPTON, Mass.—The Elusie Gallery is expanding their art show this summer hoping to give local artists a greater opportunity to display their work.
The Easthampton art gallery hosts local exhibitions throughout the year, but decided this season they would host three different artists at the same time.
Gallery owner Jean-Pierre Pasche said it can be challenging for artists to have their work seen, so it’s important to create opportunities for them to have their work viewed by a wider audience.
The artists who are on display come from western Massachusetts and as far away as Vermont, each with their own unique style of painting from landscape portraits to abstract oil carvings.
One artist, Hampden County resident Marlene Rye, has created multiple nature-related paintings based on her inspiration for forests in the area.
“A local artist from Holyoke. She’s just over the mountain here,” Pasche said. “She works primarily in pastel on a type of sandpaper which is specifically done for pastel paintings, and she also does oil on canvas paintings.”
The art exhibit will run until the end of August, Tuesday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon. Pasche said all work on display will be available for purchase.
