WORCESTER, Mass. - A 17-year-old male has died as a result of injuries from a gunshot, according to the Worcester Police Department.

Police said officers responded to the area of Millbury Street and Lafayette Sreet around 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Officers located the gunshot victim when they arrived and rendered medical aid.

The victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance where he succumbed to his injuries. 

Officers were at the scene of the shooting on Thursday morning. Police tape blocked off an area on Lafayette Street near the corner of Milbury Street.

The investigation is underway and anyone with information is asked to come forward. An anonymous text to 274637 TIPWPD + a message or an anonymous web based message at worcesterma.gov/police can be sent to the WPD. Calls can also be made to the Worcester Police Detective Bureau at (508) 799-8651.
