In sports anchor Kevin Shea's new weekly web report, “‘K-Shea’s’ Notebook, " he gives recognition to individuals or teams or groups for accomplishments in sports at any level and at any age.

Anyone with local sports news and notes, or a team or individual you think deserves a shout out, please share them with Kevin Shea at kevin.shea@charter.com.

In this week's K-Shea's Notebook, Shea talks about longtime Holden resident Pat Murphy who is a hall of famer at St. Joe’s College in Maine. Murphy worked a summer basketball camp with Julius "Dr. J" Erving years ago and the two would play one-on-one hoops every day at lunch.

Shea also gives a shoutout to J.C. Ihrig, the equipment manager for the Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche. Ihrig was the equipment manager for the Worcester Ice Cats years ago.

And finally, a tip of the cap to Worcester Railers announcer Cam McGuire who was named ECHL Broadcaster of the Year, and the whole Railers organization who won the community service award for the fourth straight year.

As always, if you know of someone or group or team that deserves a shoutout in the notebook you can email Kevin at kevin.shea@charter.com.
