WILBRAHAM, Mass. - It’s time for some spring cleaning and the Wilbraham Public Library is getting ready to take advantage of it by hosting their clothing drive for the second year in a row.
The Friends of the Library, the nonprofit organization supporting the library with donations to help with children’s programs, adult programs, and landscaping, sponsors the event.
The clothing drive will take place on the weekend of May 14-15 outside of the library during normal hours.
Wilbraham Public Library director Karen Demers said the nonprofit is looking to collect clothing in any condition and textiles, old sheets, curtains, and towels.
“It’s a great opportunity for the community, and for people that may not have the funds to contribute financially to The Friends,” Demers said. “It’s an opportunity for them to still help out if they’re clearing through their closets, spring cleaning and getting rid of clothes that don’t fit or making room for new things, then they can donate their things to a good cause.”
Demers said last year, the clothing drive raised almost $800, and the goal this year is $2,000.
She said anyone who wants to contribute can call the public library. They get paid by the pound for clothing they collect, so every bit helps.
