WORCESTER, Mass. — A city councilor would like to see improvements at one of Worcester’s more prominent outdoor sports venues.
Commerce Bank Field at Foley Stadium is home to several of the city’s high school sports teams. City Councilor Sean Rose says the city put $3 million towards new fields and field upgrades.
He is now requesting City Manager Edward Augustus explore structural improvements to places including the locker rooms, the press box and the stands.
"We have a lot of tremendous athletes in the city, and so the idea [is] not just improving the fields or adding the fields, but improving the stands," Rose said. "As I referenced, I am the president and CEO of a nonprofit that serves intellectually and developmentally disabled folks, making sure we have ADA compliance, our press box."
The agenda item will now go to Augustus for consideration.
