MASS. - A year after the COVID-19 pandemic put a halt to many Halloween activities, events and trick-or-treating are making a comeback this fall.

Towns and cities throughout Central and Western Massachusetts are safely welcoming back Halloween festivities in a variety of ways, including parades, festivals, and of course, trick or treating.

To find out more about events occurring within the region, here is a selection of cities and towns celebrating Halloween this year:

Worcester County:

Ashburnham: Trick or treating 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 31. Chapel Street and Lawrence Street will be closed.

Charlton: A Trunk or Treat on Oct. 24 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. will take place at the Charlton Arts & Activities Center. Trick or Treat hours will take place from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m on Sunday, October 31.

East Brookfield: Trick or treating 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m on Sunday, October 31.

Gardner: Trick or Treat hours will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The annual “Falloween” for preschoolers will not take place this year.

Hardwick: Trick or treating 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 31.

Hubbardston: A Halloween Hoedown will take place in the Hubbardston Town Offices parking lot from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Trick or treating 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 31.

Holden: Halloween in Holden will take place on Oct. 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Main Street. Trick or treating 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 31.

Leicester: Trick or treating 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 31.

Leominster: Trick or treating  6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 31.

Lunenburg: A Trunk or Treat will take place at City United Church campus on Oct. 23 at 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. There is also a Halloween Open House on Friday, October 29 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Millville: Trick or treating 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 31. Rain or shine.

Oxford: Trick or treating 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 31.

Princeton: Trick or treating 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 31.

Spencer: Trick or treating 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 31. Facial coverings are strongly recommended.

Sterling: Trick or treating 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 31. 

Sturbridge: Trick or treating 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 31. The Horrible’s Parade will begin right at 7 p.m. starting behind Town Hall.

West Boylston: Trick or Treating 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

Southbridge: The Horribles Parade will start at the old Wells Junior High School at 5pm Sunday, October 31 and progress down Main Street to the Town Common. Trick or Treating will follow town-wide from 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m.

Worcester: Trick or treating from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 31.

 

Hampden County:

Chicopee: The Chicopee Spooktacular will take place at Szot park on October 26th at 4 p.m.  Trick or treating is part of the event.

Holyoke: Holyoke Community College will be hosting a Trunk or Treat on Friday, October 29 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Palmer: Trick or treating 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 31. The annual parade will start at Hryniewicz park in Three Rivers at 6 p.m. 

Springfield: The city of Springfield has confirmed that Trick or Treating will be held on Sunday, October 31. No time frame has been specified.

West Springfield: The West Springfield Park & Recreation Department will be hosting a Trick or Treat Trail at the Morgan Road Pavilion on Saturday, October 30. Pre-registration is required.

Westfield: The city will be hosting its 28th annual Downtown Merchants Trick or Treating on Friday October 29 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

 

Berkshire County

Pittsfield: Trick or treating 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 31. The annual Halloween parade is canceled this year.

North Adams: Trick or treating 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 31.

Adams: Trick or treating 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 31.

Williamstown: Trick or treating 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 31.

Lee: A Trunk or Treat will be held on Friday, October 29 at the parking lots of Lee Elementary & Middle/High School from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Trick or treating will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 31.

Lanesborough:  Trick or treating 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 30.

Dalton: Trick or treating 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 31.
