WORCESTER, Mass. - A third security officer could soon be roaming city parks and pool areas in Worcester.

There are currently two park security officers working for the city's Department of Public Works & Parks. A City of Worcester spokesperson tells Spectrum News 1 there are plans to add a third security officer in the coming months.

Launched in 2014, security officers patrol the city's 61 parks, its beaches, pools, open field spaces and Hope Cemetery.  The officers are on duty Monday to Friday from 3 p.m. to midnight and on weekends from 7:30 a.m. to midnight.

The park security officers enforce city park rules and regulations, verify park permits, provide emergency first aid response, enforce parking regulations and more.
