WORCESTER, Mass. - After being closed for more than 10 months, the Worcester Regional Airport will resume daily service with JetBlue between Worcester and JFK International in New York this week.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is prepared to start screening passengers again on Thursday.

According to the TSA, during the pandemic last summer, officers at Worcester airport were only screening approximately 14 passengers a day, down significantly from the 307 per day average in 2019.

Security checkpoints now have acrylic barriers throughout the security screening process. The new barriers will help reduce or eliminate physical contact between passengers and TSA staff.

Travelers at Worcester airport will be required to wear masks throughout airport security screening checkpoints, at all times in the airport and on flights.

A JetBlue flight from JFK will arrive on Thursday and the first flight from Worcester will depart on Aug. 20. The flight will operate once daily and then twice daily beginning on Oct. 21.

Also starting Oct, 21, JetBlue will resume once daily non-stop service between Worcester and Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
