WORCESTER, Mass. – Ed Gutierrez is excited be filming again in Worcester. Gutierrez is president of the production company Fat Foot Films. He spent some time last week getting props ready for their next project.

"We log all the props we get,” Gutierrez said. “We just got back from the prop house. We put them all here. We log them in. And we bring them into our set."

He and his team at Fat Foot Films are preparing for their first project post-pandemic. It's the first time they've had a full set built for one of their productions.

"It's insane,” he said. “This is next level stuff for us for sure. We've never done anything like this. So we fell on some pieces of a set. It's like hitting the lotto man. We're having a blast.

The project is a short film called 'Mercy.'

"'Mercy' is a story of a young, unassuming woman struggling to get through the mundane, every day aspects of business life and some challenges that she faces," said the film's director, Dan Rosario.

This time, the team at Fat Foot Films is working with Central Mass Studios and 256 Films. They hope to make everything with 'Mercy' as local as possible.

"Worcester's got some really nice locations, you know what I mean," Gutierrez said. "It has its beautiful parts for sure. So we want to showcase those."

'Mercy' will join numerous productions being filmed in the city when it starts later this month and the crew is ready to be part of the city's movie magic.

"The fact that the film industry is in New England, it's here, and it's operating out of Worcester is pretty miraculous," Rosario said. "Fingers crossed they just keep coming in and we're doing more and more of it. I'm in. I'm ready."
