WORCESTER, Mass. - The Worcester Senior Center will reopen next week for the first time in nearly 15 months.

The facility located at 128 Providence Street will reopen on June 15. It has been closed since March 2020 at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I am thrilled to welcome back our seniors to the Senior Center,” City Manager Edward M. Augustus, Jr. said. “We are excited about the renovations that have been made, including a completely reconstructed parking lot, a rain garden, and a new AARP FitLot. Other outstanding amenities, including a two-story wellness center, are in the works. The Senior Center is an invaluable resource and it is certainly gratifying to be able to once again open the doors.”

Programs and services will be offered Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Virtual programs will continue to be broadcast on Worcester Government Channel on Spectrum cable channel 192 as well as Facebook and YouTube.

Program calendars will also be posted on Facebook.

The Senior Center will host a vaccination clinic for seniors and their caregivers on June 17 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be available. No appointment is necessary.

All visitors are reminded that, per CDC guidelines, those who are not fully vaccinated are advised to wear a mask. For more information, email elderaffairs@worcesterma.gov or call 508-799-1232.
