SHREWSBURY, Mass. - A joint Task Force has been created to increase public safety and marine compliance on Lake Quinsigamond.
This weekend and through the remainder of the boating season, Task Force patrols made up of officers and vessels from Shrewsbury and Worcester police departments, the Massachusetts Environmental Police, and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, will be working to ensure the safety of residents and visitors enjoying the lake.
“We are proud to work together with our law enforcement partners in Worcester and Shrewsbury to protect public safety and ensure Massachusetts residents are able to enjoy opportunities for outdoor recreation on Lake Quinsigamond,” said Massachusetts Environmental Police Colonel Shaun Santos. “Boating safety is a critical priority for the Massachusetts Environmental Police, and with increased activity on waterways across the Commonwealth, this collaboration with local police agencies with help us enforce these important regulations.”
In an effort to increase public safety and marine compliance along Lake Quinsigamond, a consortium of local and state law enforcement agencies have created a joint Task Force aimed at ensuring residents and visitors are able to enjoy land and maritime activities on Lake Quinsigamond in a safe, responsible manner. Lake Quinsigamond Task Force members will be active this weekend and throughout the boating season.
The Task Force will enforce boating and watercraft violations and ensure the legal and safe operation of watercraft. Additionally, the group will enforce park, boat ramp and parking rules and regulations, and work towards deterring criminal activity, with a focus on boat ramps.
