WORCESTER COUNTY, Mass. - The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office has identified the individual who died in Sunday’s shooting at Leicester police station as 24-year-old Zachary Richardson of Leicester.

As Spectrum News 1 reported on Sunday, Richardson crashed an SUV multiple times into the closed doors of the police station around 6:15 a.m. on Sunday.

Responding officers shot and killed Richardson after he pointed a rifle at the officers.

Richardson was given medical attention and was taken to Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester where he was pronounced deceased.

Leicester Police Chief Ken Antanavica said the two officers that responded to the scene have been placed on administrative leave, per department policy.

Worcester Regional Dispatch Center employees watched surveillance video of Richardson crashing his vehicle into the police station in real-time. They contacted officers who then responded to the scene.
