CHICOPEE, Mass. - The body discovered earlier this week on the Connecticut River in Chiocpee has been identified as 12-year-old Aiden Blanchard, according to the Hampden County District Attorney's office.
The District Attorney's office confirmed the identity of the body on Friday.
Aiden's body was recovered on April 14. Officers said they located him in the water in between the North End bridge and Memorial bridge.
Aiden went missing on Feb. 5 in Chicopee's Willimansett area near the Medina Street Boat Ramp. Police focused a big part of their search on and around the Connecticut River.
This is investigation into Aiden's death is ongoing and is being conducted by the Chicopee Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s office.
Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni offered his sympathies to Aiden's family during this difficult time.
