CHICOPEE, Mass. - You can do anything you set your mind to, with hard work and determination. One man shows us that when he set out to live a healthier lifestyle, and has made remarkable progress, in just a year's time.

In December of 2019, Spectrum News 1 first spoke to Kevin Hough. He was working out at Planet Fitness and set a goal to lose more than 100lbs and he is still at it.

"Just been working on the same thing I was working on last year," said Hough. "Lost another 70 pounds in the year, going to the gym four or five times a week, and just developing a whole new life style."

At Hough's heaviest, he weighed 535 pounds. Now he is down to 350 and keeps dropping weight.

He said he is not doing anything special. He is just being active and eating better. His message to others who are on a weight loss journey: never give up.

"Just make the first step. Little Baby steps. That is all you gotta do is just take any little step towards the goal. Whether it is  eating a little bit less, walking for five minutes, whatever, just take little steps each day and eventually they will turn into habits," said Hough.

He said the pandemic has created challenges, but to keep up his habits he worked so long to build, he was able to find ways to adapt.

"By working out at home. It's not easy, I would much rather be in the gym, but just going for walks, you just gotta stay focused," said Hough. "Pandemic or not, it's your life, it's your health, you just gotta do what you gotta do.

Hough says he has started to go back to the gym as restrictions allow. He has come a long way, but says he plans to continue losing weight and living a healthier lifestyle.
