SECOND UPDATE: A sad update in Western Massachusetts. 

The body of a missing 10-year-old boy was pulled from the Chicopee River on Tuesday afternoon.

He and an 11-year-old boy -- believed to be cousins -- were out playing in the woods over the weekend when they went missing. 

The 11-year-old was rescued from the river on Sunday, but later died at the hospital. 

 

UPDATE: Chicopee Police say the child recovered from Chicopee River on Saturday has passed away.

Emergency crews continue to search for the second child. Police are asking people to stay away from the scene due to hazardous conditions.

The search continues in Chicopee for a young child who went missing on Saturday afternoon.

Police said two children went missing near Fuller Rd.

One child was rescued from the Chicopee River and transported to the hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.

Divers cleared the scene Saturday night due to hazardous conditions.  Fire and police remained on scene overnight.

The search for the second child is ongoing. 

Police are asking everyone to stay away from the area for their own safety while they conduct their search.
