COVINGTON, Ky. — A beautiful sunny Sunday made for the perfect start to a series of flea markets put on by Creative House of Art and Design in Covington.

What You Need To Know

  • Sunday marked the first of a series of flea markets hosted by Creative House of Art and Design in Covington

  • Every fourth Sunday from April through October the flea market will take place on Mainstrasse Village

  • Vendors said they’re excited to be out drumming up business

  • They also said they like connecting with other entrepreneurs and artists in the area

Coordinator Chuck Beatty said they saw the need for it in the area—and it’s their first full season putting it on.

Beatty said on every fourth Sunday from April through October, people can stop by to see some vendors.

“It’s kind of a mix of everything. There’s fine art, there’s earrings, plants—we have all kinds of stuff down here,” he said.

One of the vendors there was Delaney Yorio, who’s selling earrings. She said the story starts with inspiration from her grandmother’s earrings.

“You know, my grandmother—she had clay ceramic earrings, and I always loved those. But I was always worried about dropping and breaking them,” Yorio said.

She said she eventually took her background in art and began making polymer clay earrings that are also hypoallergenic.

“Some are hand-painted. I like to incorporate real flowers and herbs as well. They range in a bunch of different styles, but I really like to focus on color and shape and play with weight of earrings but always keeping them light,” she said.

Also found at the flea market was Katy Bialczak, the owner of Maison Covington. It’s a shop she opened up inside of Left Bank Coffeehouse—something her family owns. People could come look at stationeries and different trinkets from her shop.

“I wanted to open up the kind of store that I’d find on trips or, you know, when I go somewhere new—just something unique,” Bialczak said.

Bialczak also said she liked being outside and seeing everyone.

Yorio also said it was nice to connect with others selling their work and products.

“I love seeing people do stuff that they’re passionate about and that they love. That’s always fun. Just to meet other creatives is another fun thing,” Yorio said.
