February 2024 will wrap up as being a top 10 or even top five warmest February months on record for many of the climate reporting sites across the region. That theme looks to continue into early March, but perhaps not for the entire month.
Our current cold snap is going to be relatively brief, as the pocket of chilly air exits to the northeast heading toward the weekend. Our next rainmaker slides into the Ohio Valley on Friday, and that will delay the warm-up, but not for long.
Upper level ridging and a south breeze will kick in by the second half of the weekend, resulting in a surge of spring-like temperatures Sunday into Monday.
Although the warmth is tempered down through the rest of the week, temperatures should still run above normal thorough the middle of the month. After that, longer rage models are still hinting at a cooler pattern taking hold, which may last into the start of April.
