We have settled into a fairly dry pattern across the Commonwealth for the past few days thanks to an area of strong high pressure that has delivered steady amounts of sunshine with clear skies and warmer temperatures.
Rainfall outlooks from the NWS Climate Prediction Center show some potential changes in the coming weeks.
We will continue to have a brief pattern of relatively low or near-average rainfall for at least the next 6 to 10 days. Expect normal rainfall chances to proceed through the end of the month.
The next 8 to 10 days are forecast to remain near normal for rainfall chances. April through early May rainfall totals average around 4 to 5 inches.
As we look ahead to next month, rainfall odds lean toward being above average.
This is associated extra moisture being swept in from the south and combining with upper-level air flow patterns changing before summer.
