Since the start of the new year, Kentucky has seen several snow events.

What You Need To Know

  • Snowfall totals are already above average in Lexington

  • Bowling Green's year-to-date totals are also slightly above average

  • Accumulations in Northern Kentucky and Louisville are below average

Talk about a snowy start. The Bluegrass State continues to see several snow showers on a nearly weekly basis since the beginning of the new year. Our bigger events have produced heavier snow, bringing year-to-date snow accumulations above average for parts of the state.

Lexington already sets the bar high with snowfall totals roughly 4 inches above the annual average.

In addition, Bowling Green has also seen more snow than normal, with a 2.4-inch surplus.

However, Northern Kentucky and Louisville still have totals below average as Feb. 9.

We still have about five weeks left of winter, so there is still time to see these year-to-date totals add up. Until then, we'll continue to watch the potential for more snow.
