LOUISVILLE, Ky. — When the snow piles up, so does the need for winter tools. Owner of St. Matthews Ace Hardware Rick Miller said they prepared and ordered extra supplies to make sure that they didn’t run out.
“People have been looking for these like crazy today. I think a lot of stores are out,” said Miller.
Miller said the store’s phone had been ringing off the hook with customers searching for ice and snow-related tools.
“It’s been so long since we’ve had one like this that, you know, people kind of forget a little bit, and then they’re like, ‘oh, no, it’s snowed a foot,’ you know, and then you have to come in and get the stuff that, you know, that you haven’t had to use in five or six years,” said Miller.
Rob Foshee just got back in town and was shocked to come home to the snowy weather.
“We all got a little taken by surprise. I mean, we haven’t had this much snow in a long, long time. So yeah, I think we were all little. Whoa, more than we thought.” said Foshee
Foshee needed to grab some snow day essentials.
“I was very unprepared. And, I’ll try not to be next time, so hopefully, hopefully this will help. I got a lot of work to do on my driveway. I came looking for a shovel. I was surprised I had any I was thrilled, and then they’ve got bags of ice melt there,” said Foshee.
Miller said the biggest concern was making sure he and his staff could get to work for the community to get the tools they need for the winter elements.
“A lot of other stores are out of stock right now, but we have sleds, ice melt and shovels,” said Miller.
