Interim athletic director Josh Heird made the announcement Monday morning.

The University of Kentucky is now looking to find a replacement game for either Wednesday or Thursday at Rupp Arena. UofL and UK are working together to see if the teams can reschedule the annual rivalry game. The rivalry has been played every year since the 1982-1983 seasons. UK leads the series 37-17.

In a release, UK said ticket holders would receive emails if additional changes are made to Kentucky's schedule this season. With the uncertainty of sports schedules because of COVID-19, UK says if games are canceled and not rescheduled the athletic department will evaluate refund and credit options for the ticket portion of the payment at the end of the season. For fans who bought single-game tickets through Ticketmaster, they will receive details from Ticketmaster.

UofL was without senior captain Malik Williams for Saturday's game with Western Kentucky because of COVID protocols.   Ohio State canceled a game with UK last Saturday because it had COVID issues.  North Carolina replaced the Buckeyes fr that game.

The rise in COVID cases isn't just affecting the schools in Kentucky, numerous NBA and NFL games have also been postponed.
