WHITESTOWN, In. — COVID-19 has forced the Warren County South (WCS) Little League team to forfeit the Little League World Series due to a positive COVID-19 test.

According to Little League Baseball's website, Kentucky's team notified the league of at least one positive COVID-19 test among the team.

Little League Baseball says after speaking with its medical advisers, it advised the Kentucky team it would no longer be able to participate in the tournament. 

The team and their families were told about appropriate health measures to make sure everyone was taken care of and they are following appropriate quarantine and isolations measures. 

On the website statement, the league wrote, "First and foremost, Little League International wishes all those impacted a full and healthy recovery. Game 7 of the Great Lakes Region Tournament, originally scheduled for Wednesday, August 11 at 2 p.m. eastern, has been declared a forfeit with Ohio advancing."

WCS won the Kentucky State Tournament to represent the Bluegrass in Indiana. The team played and won its first game Sunday, Aug. 9 against the Ohio. WCS was three games away from making the trip to Williamsport, Pennsylvania for the Little League World Series.  The series runs Aug. 19-29.
