LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Fans of the Louisville Bats will have more chances to see the team at home this season. Minor League Baseball (MiLB) and Major League Baseball announced the rescheduling of 10 Triple-A games that were postponed at the beginning of the 2021 season.
The games will be played in a new postseason tournament called the "Triple-A-Final Stretch." All 39 Triple-A Clubs, which includes the Bats, will play five home games and five road games. Louisville will host the Toledo Mud Hens at Louisville Slugger Field Sept. 22-26. The team will then travel to Columbus to play the Clippers Sept. 29-Oct. 3.
“We think this format will add excitement to the end of the season while also allowing our teams a chance to reschedule games that were lost earlier in the year,” said Major League Baseball Senior Vice President, Minor LeagueOperations and Development Peter Woodfork in a statement to Spectrum News 1. “With all 30 teams
participating in this Final Stretch, all Triple-A players and communities will
have the opportunity to win this year’s postseason tournament.”
A 2021 Regular Season Campion for the Triple-A East and Triple-A West will be named based on overall winning percentage through the originally scheduled championship season which ends on Sept. 19 and Sept. 21. There will also be one team crowned 2021 Triple-A Final Stretch winner. It will be chosen on the highest overall winning percentage during the 10-game stretch.
