LOUISVILLE, Ky. — It will be the Cardinals versus the Spartans in the 23rd Annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Wednesday, Dec. 1. The University of Louisville will travel to Lansing, Michigan for the game, which doesn't have a specific time or designated television network yet.
Louisville has won four of its seven previous challenge events since joining the ACC. The Cards lost in 2020 to No. 12 Wisconsin after coming off a COVID-19 pause.
UofL is 6-5 all-time against Michigan State and 1-1 in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The two teams last played three years ago at the KFC Yum! Center. Louisville beat the No. 9 Spartans 82-78 thanks in part to Ryan McMahon's career-high 24 points.
In a season cut short by the pandemic, Louisville had a 13-7 record and finished seventh in the ACC. Louisville will have three of its top five scorers returning next season including Samuell Williamson ad Jae'Lyn Withers.
Michigan State had a 15-13 overall record last season, winning five of its last seven games. The team earned a bid to its 23rd consecutive NCAA tournament, extending the longest NCAA Tournament streak in Big Ten history.
