OMAHA, Neb. — The 2020-21 American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) National Player of the year is the University of Kentucky's Madison Lilley. Lilley is the first player ever from the Southeastern Conference (SEC) to win the award.

Lilley was selected the winner by a vote from head coaches around the country who make up the All-American committee of the AVCA. This latest award joins a long list of others she has won this year including 2020-21 SEC Player of the Year, AVCA All-Southeast Region Player of the Year and First  Team All-American. 

Lilley is Kentucky's all-time assist leader averaging an SEC-high 12.1 assists per set this season, 236 digs per set and .65 blocks per set.  Lilley was the SEC's Player of the Week four times this season and was named Setter of the Week seven different times. 

Lilley, the school’s all-time leader in assists, is averaging an SEC-high 12.1 assists per set this season, with just under one kill per set, 2.36 digs per set and 0.65 blocks per set. She was named the SEC’s Player of the Week four times this season and the league’s Setter of the Week on seven different occasions. 

The No. 2 Kentucky Volleyball team defeated the No. 6 Washington Huskies 3-1 (25-18, 23-25, 25-23, 25-17) on Thursday night to claim its spot in the 2020 NCAA Volleyball National Championship match for the first time in program history.
