LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Are you ready for some football? The University of Louisville has released its 2020 football schedule. The Cards will play 10 Atlantic Coast Conference games and one non-conference game.
The season begins for head coach Scott Satterfield's team on Saturday, Sept. 12 when the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers come to Cardinal Stadium. This is the third consecutive year the teams will meet. Last year Louisville won the game 38-21 which was played in Nashville, Tennessee.
The pandemic forced schools to adopt this new schedule. The WKU game is followed by 10-straight ACC games.
Conference play begins when the Miami Hurricanes come to Louisville Saturday, Sept. 19. It is the first time in six years the Canes have traveled to Louisville.
The Cardinals will then hit the road for three games first traveling to Pittsburgh and Heinz Field, then a first-ever visit to Atlanta to play Georgia Tech, and rounding out the trifecta is a trip to South Bend, Indiana to take on the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Notre Dame opened the 2019 season with a 35-17 victory over the Cardinals at Cardinal Stadium.
The Cardinals come home for a pair of games; first with Florida State on Oct. 24 followed by Virginia Tech on Halloween. It is Tech's first appearance in
The Cardinals return home for a pair of ACC contests. UofL faces Florida State on Saturday, Oct. 24, and closes the month when Virginia Tech makes its first appearance in Louisville since 1992 on Saturday, Oct. 31.
Louisville begins the month of November by traveling to Virginia to meet up with the Cavaliers and then returning home for a game against Syracuse. The last two games of the year include a trip to Massachusetts for a game with Boston College and the final game of the season will take place Dec. 5 against Wake Forest. This is the first home game in December for the Cards since they beat Connecticut 48-17 in 2006.
