WASHINGTON — Kentucky's longest-serving congressman is continuing to recover after a car accident last month.

U.S. Rep. Hal Rogers, R-Ky., will begin a gradual resumption of duties on Capitol Hill next week, according to a release. He was hospitalized Jan. 10 before moving to physical rehabilitation about a week after the accident.

"When times get tough, we get tougher - and it’s that Appalachian inspiration from back home that is driving me through this recovery to get back to Capitol Hill for our people,” said Rogers, a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee. "We have a lot of work to do this month as we address the nation's border crisis and finalize federal funding bills before the March deadlines."
