WASHINGTON, D.C. - Lexington Congressman Andy Barr (R) says he’s focusing on sending a message to California Congressman Adam Schiff (D) for how Schiff is handling the impeachment inquiry into President Trump.

This as questions linger about a campaign donation made to Barr by a Ukrainian born man accused of trying to buy influence.

Igor Fruman, an associate of President Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani, gave about $2,400 to a joint fundraising committee in 2018.

When Spectrum News 1 asked Barr about the donation, he didn't directly answer, responding that he was working on co-sponsoring a resolution to censure Rep. Schiff.

"What I’m focused on right now is co-sponsoring a resolution to censure Rep. Adam Schiff for lying about his contacts with the so-called whistleblower and conducting a process and a hearing that is being conducted behind closed doors with no transparency. No transparency for the American people," said Barr.

Barr joins more than 100 other House Republicans working to censure Schiff.

Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell again confirmed that if impeachment does reach the Senate, he’ll have no choice but to take it up but didn’t respond when repeatedly asked if it’s appropriate for the President to solicit foreign help in getting damaging information on a political opponent.
