LOUISVILLE, Ky. β€” Multiple Kentucky school districts have called off classes or will be shifting to virtual instruction for Monday, Jan. 6, amid the ongoing winter storm. 

It will be a traditional snow day for Jefferson County Public Schools in Louisville with no online instruction. After-school activities, including athletics and extracurriculars, are also canceled.

Fayette County Public Schools, which serves much of the Lexington area, said it will be a "teacher and staff work day," with students expected to return to the classroom on Tuesday, Jan. 7. All in-person activities have been canceled. 

The University of Louisville, University of KentuckyWestern Kentucky University and Northern Kentucky University have also closed their campuses for Jan. 6.

Lawrence County Schools

LaRue County Schools

Greenup County Schools

Elizabethtown Independent Schools

Clark County Schools

Pendleton County Schools

Casey County Schools

Boyd County Public Schools

Frankfort Independent

Dawson Springs Independent

Beechwood Independent Schools

Hardin County Schools

It will be a non-traditional instruction (NTI) day for the following districts:

Fleming County Schools

Johnson County Schools

Russell County Schools

Breckinridge County Schools

Muhlenberg County Public Schools

Harlan County Public Schools

Metcalfe County Schools

Lyon County Schools

Campbellsville Independent Schools

The system has brought heavy snow to much of the commonwealth so far, with freezing rain and sleet also expected. This brings the potential for widespread power outages and hazardous road conditions. Gov. Andy Beshear, D-Ky., declared a state of emergency in response.
