BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Anthony Facello has been the owner of Mill House Cafe in Franklin, and now he’s opened another location in Bowling Green.
Facello said, “We’ve been a Kentucky business for about four years now. We opened up about seven months ago in the Bowling Green location.”
But running a restaurant or any small business has its challenges.
The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce has started a new certificate program to help small businesses called “BG Bucks.” The "BG Bucks" work just like money.
Facello said, “You will buy these BG Bucks through the chamber. You can spend those at participating business locally here in Bowling Green.”
The Mill House Cafe is one of over 20 local businesses taking part in the BG Bucks program.
It easy for shoppers to take advantage of BG Bucks.
Visit the Chamber’s website, complete the online form and receive the certificates by email.
The Chamber says the goal is to help businesses grow and persuade consumers to buy locally.
Jesse Deyoung, the cook for the Mill House Cafe, said, “Bowling Green means everything to me. All these businesses need to stick together. That way, we can grow together.”
Facello added, “Being a local-owned business is difficult sometimes, so we want to make sure those dollars stay local.”
Local businesses can apply to join the program at no cost.
Businesses will be listed on each certificate and will be promoted on the Chamber’s website.
