LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Louisville and Kentucky Community and Technical College System made a historic announcement Monday, as the institutions expanded their transfer agreement to include all 16 of KCTCS’ colleges.

What You Need To Know

  • The University of Louisville and Kentucky Community and Technical College System are expanding their transfer agreement; it now includes all 16 KCTCS colleges

  • Only two KCTCS colleges were part of a previous transfer agreement

  • The agreement helps support KCTCS students through the process of transferring from their community college to UofL

Through a prior agreement, students at Jefferson Community and Technical College and Elizabethtown Community and Technical College had access to pathways for a smooth transfer to UofL. This will now be accessible to all KCTCS students.

“We want to make sure we send a clear message: that regardless of which of our 16 colleges you go to, University of Louisville has removed barriers to transfer so that you too can complete your baccalaureate degree and beyond while starting at one of our 16 KCTCS colleges,” said Ryan Quarles, KCTCS president.

There are several ways this will help KCTCS students make a smooth and more affordable transfer to UofL.

“They’ll have the opportunity to work with a UofL admissions counselor and an adviser to be able to assist them in this process,” said Kim Schatzel, UofL’s president. “We’ll be offering scholarships and providing additional need-based financial aid, an advising program that can help ease the switch and the transition that the students have when they get to UofL.”

KCTCS students with a 3.25 cumulative GPA and 40 or more credit hours will be eligible for the merit-based UofL KCTCS Scholarship.
