LEXINGTON, Ky. — College basketball’s Blue Bloods have squared off since 2011 in the Champions Classic. The University of Kentucky announced the basketball tournament will continue and UK will be part of it.
Kentucky, Duke, Kansas and Michigan State will continue the doubleheader series through the 2028 season. ESPN will broadcast the event.
“We are extremely excited about the continuation of this premier event in college basketball,” UK head coach Mark Pope said. “For nearly 15 years, the Champions Classic has showcased the nation’s best programs, seen unforgettable moments, featured terrific games and been the stage where players have become stars.”
In 2025, Madison Square Garden in New York will host the event on Nov. 18. Sites for the remaining dates, Nov. 10, 2026, Nov. 9, 2027 and Nov. 7 2028 will be determined and announced later.
In its inaugural season, Kentucky beat Kansas 75-65 and Duke toppled Michigan State. Each year, the teams rotate opponents and cities.
This year’s game is Tuesday night and is being played at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. The classic tips off at 6:30 p.m. ET with Kansas and Michigan State. UK and the Blue Devils tip off 30 minutes after the first game.
