LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Spalding University has joined more than 100 colleges and universities in removing barriers to admission and streamlining the application process. Any high school senior with a GPA of 2.0 or higher will have the ability to receive direct admission while gaining additional services and 24/7 support. 

The Louisville-based institution, which prides itself on inclusivity and innovation, has cemented the legacies of figures such as Muhammad Ali and Elmer Lucille Allen. It has an enrollment of more than 1,700 students and offers an innovative schedule of seven six-week sessions per year, allowing students to work toward a bachelor's degree at their own pace.

Its student-faculty ratio is 11:1, and 98% of first-time, full-time students receive financial aid, the university added.

"Spalding University's direct admissions program will open a pathway for students by streamlining the application process, transforming the college narrative from one of scarcity to one of opportunity," said Lyndsey Bell, Spalding University director of admissions. "Through launching this initiative, Spalding University has demonstrated a continued and shared commitment to pursuing access, equity and integrity in the college admission process."

Spalding University said it has joined Common App's direct admissions program, which benefits first-generation and low- and middle-income students who are college-interested with proactive admissions directly in the application. The program includes several resources, such as financial aid, scholarship opportunities and application guides.

"We are excited for Spalding University to join Common App's direct admissions program, where students can experience a streamlined application process that millions of young adults go through every year," said Jill Gaines, dean of enrollment at Spalding University. "Through this program, students will have access to invaluable resources at their fingertips and discover the true value of a college education, thanks to the financial stability and support Common App provides."

There is no application fee for students, the university added. Students can confirm their qualification for direct entry through the Common App or by visiting the university's website.
