The organization hosted the “40 Years of Home: A Morning of Thanks" breakfast on Sept. 24.

The charity offers a home and support system allowing families to stay together. That way, families can focus on the treatment of their sick child. All programs and services are free to families.

“We just told the nurses at the nurse’s station that we needed a place to stay. We heard about the Ronald McDonald House and they made a phone call. I think that afternoon we had a phone call from the Ronald McDonald House telling us that we were able to come stay,” said Priscilla Mattingly.

The Mattingly family stayed in the Ronald McDonald House for close to six months during their daughter’s NICU and PICU stay.

Founders of the Ronald McDonald House of Kentuckiana say it’s the volunteers that keep the house operating.

“The volunteers are the people that day-in and day-out keep the house operating for families that don’t know they need it, but tonight they will,” said Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana founder Jef Conner.
