  • In a social media post, Mammoth Cave National Park said it got some criticism, being named a disappointing tourist attraction

  • This was from a supposed study done by gaming website JeffBet; Spectrum News 1 has dug into this survey, but it's unclear where the article is that's causing the commotion

  • The park's team instantly took to social media to play around with the pushback and have been rolling with attention since

  • The Facebook post has gotten more than 100,000 reactions and 30,000 shares

"I think so far, my favorite line is, 'A world of regret awaits you at Mammoth Cave,'" said Schroer, the park's public information officer.

This was after a supposed study done by gaming website JeffBet named the park the third-most disappointing tourist attraction in the U.S. While several media outlets, including Spectrum News 1, have been digging into this survey, it's unclear where the article is that's causing the commotion. Forbes Magazine said representatives of JeffBet reached through online chat couldn't confirm the origin of the study or provide a contact to follow up with.

Nonetheless, Mammoth Cave is rolling with attention.

"My very first thought is, 'This is going to be a social media post; we're going to have fun with this,'" Schroer said.

Now, the status, which starts with, “Come experience what has disappointed millions for over 225 years,” has garnered more than 100,000 reactions and 30,000 shares and has been layered with sarcastic comments.

"Some people have said, we’ve been disappointing them for 60 years now," Schroer said.

Tourists visiting the park also clapped back at the pushback.

“I don’t even know how somebody could say that," said Dawn Jones, visitor. "I’ve been here before and I’ve loved it.”

"If you’re looking for an amusement park, that’s not what this is," added Gary Barnes, visitor. "It’s amazing to me how this was found and all the work that went into it to make it what it is.”

For some people, the study even piqued their interest to visit the park.

“It actually made me want to come more, even though I lived in western Kentucky for a while ... my first visit here was awesome," said Sandy Barnes, visitor.
