LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The 120th Kentucky State Fair is wrapping up, and to celebrate the milestone, organizers placed an emphasis on representing the state's 120 counties.

What You Need To Know

  • The 120th Kentucky State Fair had a heavy emphasis on representing all 120 of Kentucky's counties

  • For its annual "Pride of the Counties," 106 counties participated

  • It gives representatives from participating counties an opportunity to set up an exhibit and talk with fairgoers about their counties

  • The last day of the fair is Sunday, Aug. 25

Residents from across the state set up exhibits to represent their counties at the state fair’s “Pride of the Counties," which saw representation from 106 of Kentucky's 120 counties. That’s almost double the amount that participated last year.

“It gives you a reason to go out, get in your car and drive around our state and see what makes every county special,” said Ian Cox, Kentucky State Fair spokesperson.

Harrison County representatives had a setup with fall decor and a large skeleton. The city of Cynthiana is a popular fall destination.

“To be able to represent Harrison County is a great honor at the state fair,” said Audrey Middletown of Cynthiana Tourism. “We’re getting to meet people from all over, and it is awesome to let people know who we are, where we’re at and how close it is."

Beyond “Pride of the Counties”, all 120 of Kentucky’s counties were represented at this year’s fair through things like entries, participation in the livestock showing and online ticket sales.
