WILMORE, Ky. — Asbury University is soaring with excitement after a record number of students and alumni worked in different areas at this year’s Paris Olympics
On-camera skills, filmmaking and production are each part of students like Susanna Edward's curriculum. Inside the Miller Communications Building, bits of film, theater and cinema history surround students.
It's one of several ways the rising junior studies media communications at Asbury University. She said experience has shaped her journey.
“We have that hands-on experience," Edward said.
For the first time with the program, she traveled across the Atlantic with a team of students and alumni to work at this year's Paris Olympics. Asbury set a record with 111 students and others affiliated with the university working behind the scenes as part of a partnership with the Olympic Broadcasting Services.
Edward said she was able to successfully transfer her experience from Asbury overseas.
“I think it's a huge blessing that Asbury can be a part of that," she said.
Edward added while she loved several things about the experience, she's appreciative of the environment her team fostered while in Paris.
