BOONE COUNTY, Ky. — An investigation is underway after two dead bodies were found in the Ohio River near northern Kentucky within a 16-hour span.

  • Boone County Water Rescue said an investigation is underway 

Boone County Water Rescue said Friday, Aug. 16 around 8:10 p.m., it was alerted to a possible body floating down the river. Crews located the victim between the Purple People Bridge and the Taylor Southgate Bridge and transferred the body to the Newport KY Fire and Campbell County coroner's office.

At approximately 11:10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, barge crews were dispatched to find another body in the water on the Ohio side just downriver of the Brent Spence Bridge. The scene was protected so police detectives, crime scene units and the Hamilton County coroner could investigate. 

Boone County Water Rescue said in a release both recoveries are under investigation.
