Kroger said a $1.25 million investment is coming to this Kroger at 2710 West Broadway in Louisville.

“I feel great about it, because it’s kind of needing upgrades. It’s kind of needing a new look. That’ll be great. Bring more business to the West End and to the community,” explained P.J. Lewis, who lives and works in the area.

In a release, Kroger Division President Jake Cannon said, “We are proud to be part of the West Louisville community since 1929. We recognize Kroger’s unique role in the communities that we serve. We are committed to serving our West Louisville neighborhood as an employer, grocery retailer, healthcare provider and more. We have a responsibility to create positive change and deliver on Our Purpose to Feed the Human Spirit with affordable, fresh food and friendly service.”

The company said there will be new lighting, new décor and new shelving. There will also be expanded product variety.

“We’re committed to the community. These investments really come from years of planning when it comes to capital finance and our remodels. The purpose of it is to elevate the customer experience,” explained Jessica Sharp, the Kroger Louisville Division Corporate Affairs Manager.

The company also said the Louisville Division is investing $500,000 in increased wages here. For courtesy clerks, wages start at $14.70 an hour. For department leaders, wages start at $25.85 an hour.

“Yeah, that’s why I’m about to put an application in. I’m about to be working there. I got a garage getting built right beside it. So, that’s going to be even better,” Lewis said.

Lewis also said the investment will mean a lot to the community.

“They’re going to be able to get fresh produce, a smile on the workers’ faces and like I said, it’ll boost morale up in the neighborhood,” he said.

The Kroger Company said the remodel will extend into 2025. There is also going to be a grand-reopening ceremony. The date for that is not set yet.

Kroger’s Louisville Division operates 115 retail food stores in Kentucky, Southern Indiana and Southern Illinois.
