"I thought there were some good things today," coach Bev Yanez said. "I thought there was improvement from (Friday), but I thought more importantly, we walked away 2-0, and it's a good step for us in reference to what we welt we could be better at from the last match."

It was the team's fourth consecutive time appearing in the event and claiming a medal, taking home bronze with Italy's Juventus defeating Brazil's Palmeiras 1-0 in the championship game. Racing won the inaugural tournament, topping Germany's Bayern Munich at Lynn Family Stadium in 2021, before earning silver at TWC Colombia earlier this year and at the 2022 tournament.

After Friday's TWC loss to Palmeiras, which won in a penalty shootout after a 0-0 draw in regulation, Yanez changed four players in her starting lineup. Pokorny played the opening 45 minutes at right back and broke through in the 23rd minute after Kayla Fischer laid off a rebound from a Jordan Baggett blocked shot.

Emma Sears, the player of the match, then beat multiple defenders to the end line and found Borges in the 49th minute, who notched her second goal in non-league competition this summer.

Louisville saw additional scoring chances from Borges, Reilyn Turner and Elexa Bahr and held off Colo-Colo's Maria Jose Urrutia, who missed a back-post header off the crossbar around the hour mark. Racing Louisville outshot Colo-Colo 12-8.

Racing is coming off a five-week National Women's Soccer League break for the Paris Olympics. The team resumes NWSL play Saturday, Aug. 24 against the Chicago Red Stars at Lynn Family Stadium in the first of its last 10 games. The team is two points out of a playoff spot.
