LOUISVILLE, Ky. — University of Louisville women’s basketball coach Jeff Walz will kick the season off in the City of Light—Paris, France.
UofL announced the women’s basketball team will play in the 2024 Aflac Oui-Play Event in November. The Cards play the UCLA Bruins on Monday, Nov. 4 at the Adidas Arena. The game is part of a doubleheader that also features the University of Southern California and Ole Miss. The games will be played at 12 .m. and 2:30 p.m. ET, but which team plays at what time hasn’t been determined.
“We are thrilled to announce our participation in the 2nd annual Aflac Oui-Play in Paris, France,” said Walz. “This enriching experience allows our players and fans to immerse themselves in a unique environment, all the while playing in a fiercely competitive game against UCLA to kick off the 2024-25 season.”
This is the second consecutive year the Cards will play an international game. Last season, the team traveled to Toronto to represent the United States in the 2023 GLOBL JAM tournament. It’s only the second time in Walz’s tenure that the team opens the season at a neutral site. The last time this happened was to start the 2021-22 season when the Cards played in South Dakota.
UCLA is the fourth confirmed non-conference opponent for UofL in the 2024-25 season. UofL plays the Oklahoma Sooners in the SEC/ACC Challenge on Dec. 4 before they travel to Brooklyn to play UConn on Dec. 7 in the Women’s Champions Classic at the Barclays Center. The Cards will travel to Lexington to play Kentucky in the annual Battle for the Bluegrass.
For the first time in Cardinals history, they are playing UCLA. The Bruins are now members of the Big Ten Conference and it’s the first time since 1986 the Cardinals are facing a Big Ten opponent to open the season. In 1986, Louisville played the Fighting Illini of Illinois at the Carrier Classic in Syracuse, N.Y.
Ticket packages, and broadcast information will be announced later.
