LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Transit Authority of River City is seeking public input for a redesign of its public transit system as part of the launce of its TARC 2025 initiative.
The public transportation system said TARC 2025 is a planning process and community conversation “to determine what TARC will look like in the coming years.” In a news release announcing the effort, TARC said it is working to proactively address a looming fiscal cliff and create a reliable and effective transit system for the city.
TARC said the first chance for the public to review the updated bus network will be Tuesday, July 30, when it releases three concepts of what a new TARC could look like. Public feedback during August and September will be used to create draft proposals that will be released later in the fall.
The TARC 2025 process will be completed next February with the release of its final proposal for the redesign.
Ahead of the July 30 release, community members can go to TARC’s website for more information and take a preliminary survey.
“We’re ready to get TARC 2025 off the ground,” said TARC Executive Director Ozzy Gibson. “TARC is facing serious financial challenges and a looming deficit that has to be addressed. This is the chance for our community to join in on that conversation and let us know what’s important to them and what TARC should prioritize as we move this forward.”
There will be two more rounds of public feedback. In November and December 2024, feedback will be solicited for the first draft of proposals. Then in February and March 2025, the public can again weigh in on the final draft proposals. TARC said it could implement the redesigned network as early as Aug. 2025.
