LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Republic Bank hosted a Juneteenth celebration June 8 in Louisville featuring music, food, games and several health-related organizations.
In the event's fourth year, representatives from different organizations gave out information, and some conducted screenings.
Attendees had the opportunity to get a free prostate cancer screening.
“We know that in the African American and Black community, we see a huge barrier to entry for some of these programs," said Ashley Duncan, vice president and director of inclusion and diversity at Republic Bank. "Having access to free prostate screenings is incredible."
More than 90 men got prostate cancer screenings at the celebration. Republic Bank partnered with Kentucky African Americans Against Cancer to conduct the screenings.
