The grant is part of the music network’s “AXS TV’s Band Together for Music Education” program. Deep Springs Elementary is one of five schools across the country getting the grant.

“We are grateful to AXS TV and Spectrum for the support they have provided to our music programs,” said Adam Kirk, principal of Deep Springs Elementary. “We believe strongly that music and the arts play a vital role in providing students a well-rounded educational experience.”

Public school music programs are some of the first go during budget cuts according to a release from AXS TV. The “Band Together” program hopes to change that by providing deserving schools with grants.

AXS TV and Spectrum selected schools with established music programs and strong leaders, but whose programs showed a need for funds and support. Teachers can use the grant money for anything from buying or repairing instruments, uniforms, music or anything they feel their music programs need to be successful.

“Providing local schools with opportunities like the AXS TV Band Together for Education grant is crucial because it provides much-needed funding to school arts programs, which gives students with the unique talents and skills access to specialized education and training,” said Jason Keller, vice president for government affairs at Charter Communications.

Spectrum has selected four other programs from across its five regions to receive a grant like Deep Springs Elementary. They are Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA); Harvey Rice Wraparound School in Cleveland; London Elementary in Corpus Christi, Texas; and Eagle Academy in Queens, New York.
