LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Dashcam video from the harrowing crash on the Clark Memorial Bridge on March 1 has been released by the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office. The bridge is more commonly known as the Second Street Bridge.

What You Need To Know

  • Dashcam video from a semitruck that went over the edge of the Clark Memorial Bridge on Mar. 1 has been released

  • The video shows views of the road ahead of the truck and inside the cab of the truck

  • It begins just before the crash that caused the semitruck to swerve and go over the edge of the bridge

  • The driver of the semitruck wasn't hurt and the driver of the pickup truck is facing several charges

The video shows two views—one of the driver, Sydney Thomas, and the other of what she was seeing in front of her on the Second Street Bridge. The recording begins shortly before the crash that caused the semitruck to swerve and go over the edge of the bridge. It ends with the semitruck hanging over the Ohio River and the driver still inside.

Just after noon on March 1, several vehicles were involved in the crash. Trevor Branham was driving a pickup truck on the bridge and, according to witnesses, he was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic when he hit a stalled car. The video shows him hitting the stalled car and crossing the lane and hitting the semitruck, sending it over the side of the bridge.

The semitruck driver was suspended for over 40 minutes before the Louisville Fire Department could rescue her.

Branham, a resident of Jefferonville, Indiana, was arrested and charged with four counts of wanton endangerment and one count of operating on a suspended license. He was in district court on May 15 for a preliminary hearing. The case has been sent to a grand jury.
