LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville Juneteenth Festival is returning for a fifth year, and new for 2024, the event will take place at Lynn Family Stadium Saturday, June 15 for a celebration of freedom and community.
Event organizers said they've partnered with Louisville's professional soccer clubs for the celebration. Racing Louisville FC will host NJ/NY Gotham FC at noon, followed by the festival in the stadium's Purple Lot, with gates opening at 2 p.m. after the game.
The festival is recognized as Kentucky's official Juneteenth event and runs until 11 p.m. Organizers said it aims to commemorate "the heritage and legacy of African Americans with cultural extravaganza featuring mouthwatering food, soulful live music and activities for all ages."
“This year marks a special milestone for the event as we celebrate our fifth year and empower local businesses, artists and provide resources for all who attend,” said Juan Lambert, board chair of the Louisville Juneteenth Festival and Park DuValle Community Health marketing and communications director.
Organizers said they expect an attendance of more than 10,000. The event also supports more than 100 minority businesses.
Tickets are available now on the festival's website or can be purchased at the gate. Those interested in sponsorship opportunities or to secure a spot in the festival's marketplace should email info@louisvillejuneteenthfest.com by June 1, organizers said.
“This is more than just a festival,” Lambert said. “It’s a celebration of unity, progress and the enduring spirit of our freedom. We encourage the community to spread the word about this year’s event and join us for a day when heritage, reflection and community intersect.”
The festival added Churchil Downs Inc. and Derby City Gaming will serve as its first Platinum Partner while Pebble is its official marketplace data partner.
