LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky LGBTQ+ Health and Wellness Fair was held over the weekend to give attendees information about a number of resources in the community.
The Kentucky LGBTQ+ Health and Wellness Fair was organized by Shannon Ashley, who saw a need for it after several community members inquired about access to health resources and information.
Over 40 different vendors set up tables at the health and wellness fair. There were several health-related vendors, along with other types of organizations like Camp Beacon, the Lexington Pride Center, and Trans Parent Lex.
Free rapid HIV tests were administered along with tables that had preventative resources.
“This fair today actually makes a commitment to say, ‘You know what, there are actually people out here that will service you and help you within the health care space,” said Glenn Means, one of the health and wellness fair’s committee members.
Because of the event’s success, there are talks of doing this again next year.
